The band is canceling all currently scheduled indoor concerts until further notice. We are working with partners in the Central Virginia Community to set up outside, socially distanced programs according to the prevailing guidelines in the months of July through October. Please check here regularly for updates on possible performances. If you would like to schedule a socially distanced performance by one of our small ensembles (Brass Quintet, Clarinet Ensemble, Dixieland Band) please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.

As a result of COVID-19 restrictions, the 2021 James W. Simmons Solo Contest and Dr. Genevieve Murphy Solo Contest has been postponed until 2022. The tentative date for the audition will be early January 2022 with the winner performing with the band in April of 2022 as the band kicks off its Centennial Season with the Dogwood Festival Spring Concert. The winner also receives a $1,000 award which can be used for private lessons or college expenses. Information about the 2022 competition will be placed on our web site in the Fall of 2021 and mailed to high school band directors in Central Virginia.
